The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Larsen tries to close the distance and clinch but Higgens swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Larsen ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Higgens moves away.

Larsen rushes Higgens and presses him up against the cage.
Higgens tries to pull guard but Larsen holds him up against the cage and eventually Higgens drops back down to his feet.
Larsen throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Higgens is trying to drag Larsen to the mat but Larsen just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Larsen stops a takedown attempt from Higgens.
Dwane Larsen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jerrod Higgens.
Larsen lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.

It looks like Jerrod Higgens has been cut.
Higgens drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Larsen gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Higgens is trying to drag Larsen to the mat but Larsen just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Larsen lands an elbow just above Higgens 's eye.

That has opened up Jerrod Higgens's cut even more.

The cut above Jerrod Higgens's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Higgens has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Larsen is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Larsen unloads a knee to the mid-section. Higgens lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Larsen wants the takedown. Higgens is fighting it off but Larsen persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Higgens's guard against the cage.

Larsen drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Larsen jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Larsen decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Larsen tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Larsen tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Higgens paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Higgens gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Larsen.

Jerrod Higgens's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Larsen wants to clinch.
Higgens swats away the attempt to clinch by Larsen.

Larsen has Higgens up against the cage in a clinch.
Larsen misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Higgens.
Larsen gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Jerrod Higgens's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
