PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chaiyo Sukbunsung (ranked 979 p4p, 1129 weight class) and Eli Pope (ranked 126 p4p, 147 weight class). Eli Pope told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pope lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Sukbunsung at a distance.
Chaiyo Sukbunsung seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The fighters circling - Sukbunsung throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Pope doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.

Sukbunsung scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Pope doesn't seem bothered though.

Sukbunsung stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Pope throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Pope gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Sukbunsung misses with a lunging right hand
letting Pope counter with a right hand.
Sukbunsung lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Pope throws a hook to the side of Sukbunsung's head but Sukbunsung sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Sukbunsung swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Pope throws out a counter right but Sukbunsung avoids it with no problem.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Pope just misses with a punch to the body.
Sukbunsung scores with the left hand. Pope knows he should have avoided that one.

Sukbunsung ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Pope moves away.

Sukbunsung is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.

and Pope counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Sukbunsung lands with a right hand.
Pope displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Sukbunsung throws out the jab.

and Pope counters with a crisp one two that drops Sukbunsung! Pope thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Sukbunsung to his feet! Sukbunsung is in big trouble!

Oh Sukbunsung is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Sukbunsung digs a good body shot into Pope's ribs.

and Pope counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Pope moves out of range of the strikes.
Pope cracks Sukbunsung with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Sukbunsung tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Pope pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Sukbunsung is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
