The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Clark throws a low kick, looking for Soares's leg but Soares calmly moves out of range.

Clark throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Clark has a couple of punches blocked by Soares.

Soares has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Clark is working away from the top position though.
Soares is staying active underneath Clark, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Clark uses his free foot to push down on Soares's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Soares.
