The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A kick lands to the mid section there for patterson.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
patterson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Figgs is trying to maintain the position but patterson is very close to passing his half guard.
patterson seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
patterson is looking to take a break and control but Figgs is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
patterson wants to pass the guard but Figgs is defending well.

Figgs is not content to let patterson control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
patterson content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
patterson is keen to just control but Figgs is a slippery customer.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
patterson fails with an attempt to clinch.
Figgs walks into a left hand.
patterson lands a head shot.
patterson's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and patterson duly obliges.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Figgs keeps control of patterson as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

patterson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Figgs working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. patterson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. patterson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
patterson slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Figgs is looking to work his way out of this bad position but patterson is controlling him well.

patterson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Figgs keeps working.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
patterson remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for patterson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
