PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alan Spence (ranked 1805 p4p, 2140 weight class) and John Brown (ranked 213 p4p, 254 weight class). Spence kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Were Coming. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 12 - 1, fighting out of London, Alan Spence !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Brown!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spence throws out a loose jab but Brown uses good head movement to avoid it.
Brown fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Spence avoids it really well and circles away.
Spence is looking to counter punch.
Brown slips under a jab.
A big right from Spence misses.

Brown darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Brown is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Spence is just riding it out for now. Brown eventually gives up the hold.

Brown is working for a kimura but Spence is defending it quite comfortably.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That was a close round but I would say that Alan Spence will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Brown checks a leg kick.
Brown is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Spence throws a lazy right hand but Brown sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Horrible takedown attempt by Brown or perhaps it was just good defense by Spence , which made it look bad.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Spence enables Brown to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Spence manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
