Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between James Clerk Maxwell (ranked 147 p4p, 415 weight class) and Hoodoo Brown (ranked 8 p4p, 30 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 1, fighting out of New York, Hoodoo Brown!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Wesley Smith and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clerk Maxwell throws a jab but it's blocked by Brown.
Brown is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Brown has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Clerk Maxwell misses with a combination
and Brown counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Clerk Maxwell has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Brown stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Clerk Maxwell swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Clerk Maxwell tries to buck Brown off but Brown is having none of it.

Brown creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Clerk Maxwell sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Brown is trying to get an arm triangle but Clerk Maxwell is defending well.
Brown is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Clerk Maxwell knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Brown has hold of Clerk Maxwell's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Clerk Maxwell tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Brown cranks the arm and Clerk Maxwell screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Clerk Maxwell, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
