PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a featherweight kickboxing rules bout between Piger Whok (ranked 21655 p4p, 23977 weight class) and Pharoah The First Chai (ranked 393 p4p, 407 weight class). Whok kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is King of Kings - Motorhead. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 16 - 0, fighting out of New York, Piger Whok!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Pharoah The First Chai!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Paulo Santos and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whok misses with a low kick.
Whok shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Chai eats them both and turns towards Whok to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Whok throws a sloppy head kick and Chai moves out of range easily.
Chai scores with a jab to the head.
Whok ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Chai blocks the body kick.
Chai is looking to land body kicks.
Chai pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Chai takes a swing at Whok's ribcage but misses.
Chai slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Whok scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Whok throws a head kick but Chai moves out of range.
Whok misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Chai.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Chai throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Whok avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Chai stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Whok.
Whok does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Chai now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Whok uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Chai.
Whok is looking for a counter combo.
Whok misses with a combination
and whilst Whok still has his hands down, Chai counters with a perfectly aimed head kick that sends Whok crashing to the mat! Will he recover? 3,4,5,6,7 - he's back up! The referee looks into his eyes and asks him to walk forwards. He's going to allow this one to continue but will Whok be able to survive another onslaught?

Chai throws a leg kick but Whok sees it coming and checks it nicely.
It looked like Whok was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Whok motions for Chai to come forward. Whok throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Whok throws a push kick but Chai slaps the foot to one side.
Whok will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Chai avoids a punch combination nicely.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Whok throws a big counter combination but Chai scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
A chopping leg kick lands by Chai.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Chai fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Whok on the side of the head.
Whok will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
A bone on bone clash there as Chai blocks the leg kick.

A decent looking cross lands there for Chai.
Whok is rocked!
Whok tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. Chai manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Oh Whok is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Whok seems to have got his legs back now.
A nice leg kick lands there from Chai.
A low kick from Whok is predictable there
and Chai counters with a nice low kick that buckles Whok's knee momentarily.
Whok throws a leg kick that is checked
enabling Chai to counter with a crisp jab.
Whok throws a series of punches but Chai avoids them all with ease.
Whok throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Piger Whok seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Whok scores with a spinning back kick!

Chai is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Chai misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Whok.
As Chai looks to move away, Whok throws a big counter combo but Chai just gets out of the way.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Chai throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Whok is breathing heavily.
A punch lands to the side of Whok 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Whok uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Chai.

A relieved looking Pharoah The First Chai thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
