Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ryder Morningstar (ranked 5794 p4p, 24168 weight class) and Yawa Kiang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 17 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ryder Morningstar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 36 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Yawa Kiang!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Kiang.
Kiang working away.
Kiang prevents Morningstar from escaping the position.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Kiang sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Morningstar is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Morningstar is looking for a sweep.

Morningstar is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Kiang has just dragged him back down to the mat.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Kiang thinks about the counter body kick.
Kiang closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
A head kick by Morningstar misses

and Kiang counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Morningstar wriggles free and stands up.
Ryder Morningstar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Morningstar swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Kiang counters with a body kick that stops Morningstar in his tracks momentarily.
Kiang moves out of range of the strikes.
Kiang replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Morningstar blocks it well.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Morningstar throws a lazy head kick

so Kiang counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Kiang is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Kiang postures up.
Morningstar is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Kiang is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Kiang slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Morningstar throws a lazy uppercut
and Kiang counters with a solid body kick.
Morningstar misses with a lunging right hand

and Kiang counters by moving into the clinch.
Morningstar is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Kiang turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Kiang manages to end up in side control.
Morningstar tries to bench press Kiang off him but Kiang keeps the position.

Morningstar pushes Kiang away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Kiang gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Kiang is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Morningstar has escaped the position, nice work there.
Morningstar is looking for a sweep.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Morningstar pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Morningstar throws a hook but Kiang blocks it.
Morningstar missing with a left hand there. Kiang was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

A close round but Yawa Kiang will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Morningstar throws a nice looking combination but Kiang bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

and Kiang counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Morningstar!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A lull in the action here as Kiang stalls from top position.

Kiang is trying to counter with his kicks.

The fighters circle momentarily. Morningstar darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Morningstar throws a jab when Kiang was well out of range.

and Kiang counters with a shoot takedown. Morningstar fights it but they end up in guard.

Morningstar is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Kiang dives into side control.
Kiang looks up at the clock and then as Morningstar takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Kiang smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

You can see the frustration on Morningstar's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Morningstar is looking to reverse the position.

Yawa Kiang showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Kiang displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Morningstar throws out the jab.

And Kiang responds with a good body kick, but Morningstar manages to step out the way in time.

Kiang fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Morningstar to the ground. Kiang is now in Morningstar's guard.

Kiang uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Morningstar.
A looping hook to the body misses from Morningstar. Kiang does a little dance to reset his feet.
Morningstar throws a body shot but no joy.
Kiang follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.
Morningstar is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Kiang's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.
Kiang blocks a head kick by Morningstar.
Morningstar moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Morningstar throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Kiang thinks about the counter body kick.
Kiang uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Morningstar.
Kiang looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it.

and Kiang counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Morningstar is looking to stand back up but Kiang counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Morningstar.

Let's hope that Kiang has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Morningstar tries to get to full guard but Kiang has control of the leg.
Kiang content to control rather than advance.
Morningstar trying to hold on to Kiang's head to control him but Kiang postures up.

Morningstar looks like he's trying to stand up.
Kiang landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Morningstar tries to kick Kiang off but Kiang keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Yawa Kiang is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Morningstar flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Morningstar misses with an uppercut
and Kiang makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Morningstar really felt that one!
Kiang drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Ryder Morningstar has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Morningstar swings widly with a right hand
and Kiang counters with a good, hard body kick but Morningstar shrugs it off.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ryder Morningstar.
I think Kiang has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
