Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
da Silva misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
da Silva buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
da Silva looks to score with a jab to the body but Mayweatherre is just out of range.

da Silva drives through and clinches with Mayweatherre against the cage.
da Silva tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

It looks like Shannon Mayweatherre has been cut.

da Silva lands a big knee from the Thai clinch and Mayweatherre goes down hard! The ref takes a good look at him but he's still defending himself. da Silva in side control.
Mayweatherre looks gassed!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Mayweatherre is looking to regain half guard here but da Silva keeps moving and retains side control.
da Silva knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mayweatherre on the ground.
da Silva wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mayweatherre keeps working.
da Silva wants to stand but Mayweatherre has his arm trapped.
Mayweatherre tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but da Silva wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

da Silva trying to control the position but Mayweatherre is working away.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

da Silva gets in close and instigates a clinch.

That has opened up Shannon Mayweatherre's cut even more.
Mayweatherre has da Silva pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. da Silva manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with da Silva for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.

Mayweatherre has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. da Silva is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

da Silva tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
da Silva throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Mayweatherre blocks it with crossed arms.

da Silva breaks the clinch.
Mayweatherre shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Norberto da Silva has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shannon Mayweatherre.

da Silva closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Mayweatherre takes an elbow to the forehead.

The cut above Shannon Mayweatherre's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Mayweatherre drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

da Silva pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Mayweatherre tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but da Silva swivels and escapes.

da Silva forces Mayweatherre back against the cage and clinches.
da Silva lands an elbow that stopped Mayweatherre in his tracks for a moment.

Shannon Mayweatherre's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Shannon Mayweatherre's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
