Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Hiroshi Gomi (ranked 2189 p4p, 3504 weight class) and Will Smith (ranked 157 p4p, 231 weight class). Gomi kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is The Only Thing They Fear is You- DOOM Eternal OST. The key to victory for Hiroshi Gomi has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Smith tries a head kick but it misses.

Smith's coach down at The Jungle Room was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Smith's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Gomi on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Smith throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Smith walks into a left hand.
Smith ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Gomi moves away.
Hiroshi Gomi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gomi throws a jab but it's blocked by Smith.
Gomi lands an overhand right.
Gomi walks forward, straight into a front kick from Smith.

and Gomi counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Gomi walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
