Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Nogueira Junior (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Peter Griffin!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Mauricio Rocha and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Junior fails with the takedown.
Griffin tries to close the distance and clinch up but Junior swats him away and circles back towards the center.
A slow jab from Griffin misses its intended target.
Junior shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Griffin pivots, looking for a leg kick but Junior is out of range and Griffin settles back down.
Griffin moves out of range of the strikes.
Griffin stuffs the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marcus Nogueira Junior. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Junior defending well as Griffin loads up on a big left hand.
Griffin scores with a jab. Junior acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Griffin stuffs the takedown attempt from Junior. Junior gets slowly back to his feet.

A clash of legs there as Junior blocks the low kick.
Griffin fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Junior tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Griffin paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Junior avoids the head kick by Griffin.
Griffin throws a right and a left that both miss.
Peter Griffin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Griffin throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Junior fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Griffin circles away from the clinch attempt
and Griffin counters with a one-two to the body.

Left hook, right uppercut from Junior.
Griffin misses with a straight left.
Junior tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Griffin counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Griffin.

Griffin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Crunch! Griffin slams his shin into Junior's torso.

Griffin misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Griffin throws out a loose jab but Junior uses good head movement to avoid it.
Junior is looking to clinch but Griffin is avoiding it.

Griffin moves into range and clinches up with Junior.
Griffin is pressed up against the cage. Junior has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Griffin down to the mat. Griffin avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Griffin stuffs the takedown attempt from Junior. Junior gets slowly back to his feet.
Griffin throws a head kick but Junior moves out of range.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Griffin tries to clinch up.
Griffin bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Junior's head.
Griffin throws a hook to the side of Junior's head but Junior sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Junior wants to clinch.
A solid body kick from Griffin.
Junior shoots and misses
and Griffin counters with a right hand to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Peter Griffin dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

A big right from Griffin misses.
Junior with a lazy takedown attempt

and Griffin counters by clinching up.
Junior avoids the elbow strike from Griffin, against the cage.
Griffin lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Griffin pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

so Junior counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Junior is looking to work some ground and pound but Griffin has wrist control.

Griffin wriggles free and stands up.
Griffin throws a series of strikes that have Junior backpedaling.
Junior doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Griffin counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Griffin closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Griffin's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Griffin throws a series of punches but Junior moves out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Griffin misses with the combination.
No joy there for Griffin, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Junior will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marcus Nogueira Junior. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Griffin throws the kick towards the body but Junior avoids it.
Good leg kick by Griffin there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Junior on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Griffin. Griffin obviously looking to wear him down.
Peter Griffin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Griffin lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Griffin is trying to stand up here but Junior is controlling him well.

Junior is trying to control the action in half guard but Griffin is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Griffin won't allow Junior to pass to mount.

Junior is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Griffin has managed to free his arm - good work.
Junior is looking to advance position but Griffin won't allow it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Griffin lands a slapping body shot.
Griffin misses with a wild combination.
Griffin misses with a kick to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Marcus Nogueira Junior will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Griffin breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Marcus Nogueira Junior is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Griffin throws a nice looking combination but Junior bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

enabling Junior to counter with a crisp jab.
Griffin throws a series of punches but Junior avoids them all with ease.

and Griffin counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Griffin trying to control the position but instead, Junior has worked for underhooks and has pushed Griffin into the cage.

Griffin doesn't manage to clinch there - Junior circles away.
Junior looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Griffin is fending him off so far but Junior persists. Nope, Griffin circles away and we're back to standing.

and Junior cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Griffin's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Griffin tries to clinch there but Junior circles away.
Junior fails with the takedown
and Griffin counters with a one-two to the body.
Griffin throws an overhand right that lands on Junior's shoulder, as Junior tries to avoid the shot.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Griffin throws a left and a right that both miss
and Junior connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Griffin is looking to clinch.

And that's the end of the fight!
Peter Griffin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Griffin has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
