Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Robert Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Shaun Ryder!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Chris Edwards and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ryder looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Gracie seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Ryder must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Gracie working for a triangle but Ryder defends it easily.

Gracie working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ryder doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ryder manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ryder might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Gracie haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gracie escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ryder gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Ryder postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Ryder would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Ryder sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Gracie's guard.

Gracie regains full guard. Nicely done.

Gracie is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Ryder content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Gracie has locked up a guillotine! Gracie's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Ryder is holding on here and Gracie must be using up a lot of energy. Ryder has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Gracie gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
