PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Bum Fighter (ranked 23895 p4p, 4391 weight class) and Ted Wazowicz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Bum Fighter has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 11 - 0, fighting out of London, Bum Fighter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ted Wazowicz!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Sam Margolis and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wazowicz changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Fighter looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Fighter sneaks back into half guard.

Fighter looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Wazowicz tries to pass to full mount but Fighter defends it.
Wazowicz not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Wazowicz passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Fighter!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fighter wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Wazowicz.
Wazowicz takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wazowicz thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wazowicz avoids the attempt from Fighter to control.
Fighter is looking to get to half guard.
Fighter might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Wazowicz has hold of Fighter's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Fighter manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Fighter really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Wazowicz controlling the pace for now.
Let's hope that Wazowicz has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Fighter is working to get back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fighter holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Wazowicz tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Fighter is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Fighter is trying desperately to improve position.
Wazowicz controlling the position easily from mount.

Wazowicz is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Fighter can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Wazowicz thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Fighter regains half guard.
Wazowicz is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Wazowicz decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

No joy there for Fighter, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

and Fighter decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Wazowicz's guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Wazowicz manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Wazowicz wants to get back to striking at distance but Fighter won't allow it.
Wazowicz drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Fighter looking to slow down the pace here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fighter landing knees to the body.
Wazowicz is trying to maintain a safe position but Fighter gets an underhook and turns Wazowicz into the cage.
Fighter is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Wazowicz gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Fighter gets control of Wazowicz's arms and successfully pulls guard. Fighter will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Wazowicz controls from within his opponent's guard.

Wazowicz gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Fighter looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Wazowicz!

Wazowicz throws Fighter to one side and escapes!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Wazowicz keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Wazowicz shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Wazowicz showed some decent athleticism there.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Wazowicz.

Fighter avoids a series of strikes thrown by Wazowicz.
Wazowicz content just to control the position here.
Fighter is looking to get to half guard.

Wazowicz throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Ted Wazowicz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Fighter's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Fighter blocks a head kick by Wazowicz.

Fighter drives through and clinches with Wazowicz against the cage.
Wazowicz has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Wazowicz swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Wazowicz is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Fighter breaks the clinch.
Fighter shoots in for a takedown but Wazowicz shows good takedown defense.
Wazowicz is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Fighter tries to clinch up but Wazowicz circles away and keeps his distance.

and Fighter counters with a nice uppercut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wazowicz lands a front kick.

Wazowicz fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Fighter sprawls well initially but Wazowicz persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Wazowicz decides to stand and escape the position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Wazowicz misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Fighter clinches with his opponent.
Fighter keeps control of Wazowicz as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Fighter breaks the clinch.
Wazowicz misses with a jab, cross combination.
Wazowicz fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Fighter manages to avoid it.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Wazowicz.
Bum Fighter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ted Wazowicz.
Wazowicz shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Fighter as he jumps to the side.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fighter shoots in but no luck this time.
Wazowicz tries to clinch but Fighter is having none of it.
It looked like Fighter was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Wazowicz throws a head kick that Fighter semi-blocks.
Wazowicz darts in looking for a takedown but Fighter gets double underhooks and turns Wazowicz into the cage.
Fighter tries to score a power double leg takedown but Wazowicz sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Fighter somewhat.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Wazowicz.
Wazowicz has his takedown stuffed
and Fighter connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A head kick misses from Wazowicz.

Fighter clinches up against the cage.
Fighter lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Fighter lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Fighter is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Wazowicz trying to control the position but instead, Fighter has worked for underhooks and has pushed Wazowicz into the cage.
Fighter prevents Wazowicz from breaking the clinch.
Wazowicz jumps guard but Fighter stands there with Wazowicz around his waist. Wazowicz gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fighter tries to break free but Wazowicz pushes him back against the cage.
Fighter fails to pull guard.
Wazowicz misses with an elbow strike.
Fighter fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Wazowicz is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Fighter pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Wazowicz tries to circle away but Fighter has him pinned against the cage.
Wazowicz tries to pull guard but Fighter won't allow it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Wazowicz has Fighter pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Fighter manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Fighter is trying to push Wazowicz away but Wazowicz has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Bum Fighter has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Ted Wazowicz is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Bum Fighter.
I think Wazowicz has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
