PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nicolas Ceballos (ranked 4379 p4p, 25372 weight class) and Yorup Clop (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nicolas Ceballos had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Nicolas Ceballos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Yorup Clop!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Paulsen Ambrosius and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clop throws a shot to the body.
Clop fails with a takedown attempt.
It appears Ceballos was looking to counter with a kick there.
Ceballos shoots in but Clop avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Nice takedown defense from Clop. No joy for Ceballos on that attempt.
Clop tries to clinch up.
Ceballos throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Clop's waist but Clop gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ceballos off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nicolas Ceballos. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Horrible takedown attempt by Clop or perhaps it was just good defense by Ceballos, which made it look bad.
Clop is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

and Ceballos counters with a nice uppercut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ceballos throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Clop was covering up waiting for the punch and Ceballos finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Clop is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Ceballos is controlling him.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Clop wants to control the action here but instead Ceballos manages to pass to full mount!

Ceballos stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

Clop swings wildly with an uppercut but Ceballos uses good head movement to avoid it.

Clop breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Ceballos tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Clop defends well and Ceballos ends up having to push Clop into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Clop jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Ceballos walks away with a smile on his face. Clop gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Despite the aggression on Clop's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Clop shoots in looking for a takedown but Ceballos manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Clop's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Clop tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Clop scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Ceballos doesn't seem bothered though.
Clop avoids the head kick by Ceballos.
Clop fails with an attempt to clinch.
Ceballos half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

and Clop counters with a nice uppercut.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Clop.
Ceballos changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Clop tries to avoid it but Ceballos manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Clop to the ground. Clop escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Clop wants to clinch up but Ceballos keeps it at a distance.
Ceballos seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Clop rushes Ceballos and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Clop is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Ceballos pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Clop jumps guard and drags Ceballos to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

That was a close round but I would say that Nicolas Ceballos will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Ceballos throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Ceballos tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Clop paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Ceballos is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Clop.

Clop is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Clop is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Ceballos still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Ceballos has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Clop is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Ceballos has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Ceballos!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Ceballos drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Clop manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Ceballos has Clop in his guard.

Well, if Clop is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Yorup Clop comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Ceballos has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
