PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between George Hale (ranked 1350 p4p, 1999 weight class) and Bob White (ranked 133 p4p, 175 weight class). Hale comes to the cage accompanied by Lone Wolf - Tenggar Cavalry. On his way into the cage it seems that George Hale has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily George Hale seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, George Hale!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bob White!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, William Peck and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hale throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

White bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The referee asks White politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. White prefers to stall for the moment though.
White throwing strikes but missing, from side control.

White tries for a kimura but Hale is defending well.
Hale is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
White postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
White is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Hale's shoulder. That is not cool.
Hale knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for White on the ground.
White misses with the ground and pound.
Hale trying to remain calm as White controls from the top position.
White has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Hale tries to bench press White off him but White keeps the position.
White trying to control the action but Hale is working from the bottom.
Hale wants to control but White postures up.
White wants to control for a moment but Hale uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Hale tries to get to full guard but White has control of the leg.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
White wants to control but Hale is keeping him busy.

White is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Hale is trying to maintain the position but White is very close to passing his half guard.
White works his way into side control.
Hale struggling a bit here.
White wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hale keeps working.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hale tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but White wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Hale on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hale tries to get out of the position.
Hale prevents White from improving position.
White taking a breather here.
Hale looks to move to half guard but instead White has passed into mount! Damn!
White wants to take Hale's back here but Hale is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
White trying to control but Hale is having none of it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
White takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hale is working to get back to half guard.
White throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Hale definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Hale bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Hale won't allow White to sweep him here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
White is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Hale is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Bob White dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Hale stuns White with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
White misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Hale enables White to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Hale manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

White trying to control but Hale is working from the bottom.
Hale avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
White controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Hale scores with a hook to the body. White takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
White shoots in for a double leg but Hale sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

White is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Hale's half guard.
White content to control rather than advance.
Hale preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

Hale trying to control but White postures up.
White sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Hale defending well though.
White prevents Hale from improving his position.
White not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Hale is looking for a sweep. White is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
White trying to pass the guard but Hale defending well.
Hale is not content to let White control the position.

White wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hale keeps working.
White perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
White fails with the takedown
and Hale counters with a nice uppercut.
George Hale has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bob White.
Hale lands with a nice body punch.
Hale dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
White takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
White is breathing heavily.
Hale lands with a nice body punch.
Hale scores with a punch to the head.
Hale dips to his left and cracks White with an uppercut!
White's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Hale connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! White scrambles back to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
White with a lazy takedown attempt
and Hale cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Nice uppercut lands for Hale. That snapped White's head back.

White is rocked!
George Hale is winning the standup battle so far.

Hale throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
White is still on wobbly legs! Can Hale finish him?
George Hale is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
White is starting to get sloppy and is letting his hands down. Hale just took advantage and landed a stinging jab. Oh! Now a right hook, right on the button! White has gone limp and this one is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:08 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). George Hale!
A very excited looking George Hale made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
