PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Francisco Silva (ranked 4370 p4p, 4972 weight class) and Thiago Teixeira (ranked 246 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva gets the takedown into side control.
Silva scores with a couple of short elbows.
Silva lands a nice forearm strike.
Teixeira is pushing Silva 's head away, looking to escape. Silva manages to hold on to the position though.

Silva is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Teixeira is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Teixeira takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Teixeira tries to escape but Silva is in control.
Teixeira takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Silva is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Teixeira will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Teixeira is working to avoid the ground and pound but Silva connects with a decent elbow.

Silva tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Silva has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Silva has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Silva is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Teixeira is trying to escape and Silva transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Teixeira is forced to tap! Nice work there by Silva ! Very nice indeed!
