PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Raymone Bjorn (ranked 4421 p4p, 4460 weight class) and Daryl Darcey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

and Bjorn counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Darcey is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Darcey is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Darcey wants to sweep here but Bjorn controlling him for the moment.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Darcey jumps guard and drags Bjorn to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Bjorn is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Darcey is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Darcey has escaped and now he's on top!

Bjorn is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Darcey is controlling him.

Bjorn is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bjorn has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Darcey can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Bjorn has his foot on Darcey's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Darcey works his way back into a safe position though.
Bjorn wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Darcey is now in half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Bjorn tries to roll over but Darcey keeps him under control.
Darcey takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Bjorn won't allow Darcey to pass to mount.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
No luck for Darcey with that takedown attempt.
Bjorn displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Darcey.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Daryl Darcey will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Bjorn tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Darcey defends well and Bjorn ends up having to push Darcey into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Darcey lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Bjorn is trying to reverse the position but instead Darcey has taken his back - oops!

Bjorn is trying to get back to his feet but Darcey has full control of the position and if anything, Bjorn has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Darcey connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Bjorn to escape the position.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Bjorn is trying to remain composed but Darcey is hammering down strikes to the side of his head.
Darcey has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Darcey lands punches and elbows.

Darcey has hold of one of Bjorn 's legs. Bjorn is fighting the takedown attempt but Darcey gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Darcey leaves Bjorn with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Bjorn tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Darcey paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Darcey is working to tighten his grip on Bjorn 's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Bjorn has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Darcey is really squeezing tight and eventually Bjorn passes out! Darcey breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
