The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whelan showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Wilson.
Wilson throws a series of punches but Whelan avoids them all with ease.
Wilson scores with a head kick. Whelan tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Whelan doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Wilson throws a nice looking combination but Whelan bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Whelan attempts a counter takedown but Wilson avoids it well and moves away.
Wilson throws a leg kick which misses Whelan's front leg but catches the back leg as Whelan tries to avoid it.
Whelan dodges the punch combination from Wilson.

Whelan fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Wilson sprawls well initially but Whelan persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Wilson is in trouble now - Whelan has advanced to mount!

Whelan working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Wilson turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Whelan off and cradles Wilson's limp body as Whelan celebrates with his corner.
