PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Michael Scott (ranked 5751 p4p, 3475 weight class) and Dzsoni Botos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Scott comes into the arena with The Office blaring out of the sound system. Botos has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Dzsoni Botos has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dzsoni Botos!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scott shoots in for a double leg but Botos sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Scott looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Botos throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
It looked like Scott wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Scott avoids a punch combination nicely.
Scott shoots in for a takedown but Botos shows good takedown defense.
Botos comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Botos connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Jab, jab by Botos - just one landing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Botos has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
A punch lands to the side of Scott 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Botos stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Scott closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Botos stalks Scott and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Scott's face. Scott staggers backwards, shaken.

Scott fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Botos to the ground. Scott is now in Botos's guard.
Botos is looking to stand back up but Scott counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Botos.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Scott seems to be working for a kimura but Botos defends the submission attempt.

Botos is concentrating on defense, preventing Scott from advancing position.

Scott is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Dzsoni Botos showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Botos clobbers Scott with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

We've been told by Scott's head coaches at Cozad MMA St Petersburg that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Botos scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Scott doesn't seem bothered though.

Botos throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Scott stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Dzsoni Botos is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
