The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Paulo Santos and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maia dives in and grabs Lawrence's left leg, looking for a takedown. Lawrence pushes down on Maia's head and hops out.
A left lands for Lawrence.
Nice defenses there by Maia.
Lawrence defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Maia.
Lawrence looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Maia.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sam Maia. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lawrence tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Maia moves in looking to clinch but Lawrence pushes him off.
Maia doesn't manage to clinch there - Lawrence circles away.
Lawrence throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Lawrence scores with a nice head shot.

Maia shoots in but Lawrence avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Marcus Lawrence seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Maia is breathing heavily.
Lawrence throws a right and a left that Maia avoids nicely.
Lawrence throws a series of punches but Maia avoids them all with ease.
Maia takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Lawrence scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Lawrence throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Lawrence misses with a body shot.
Lawrence scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

Maia keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Lawrence misses with a body shot.
Maia closes the distance and clinches up with Lawrence, looking for a takedown. Maia pushes Lawrence against the cage but Lawrence circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Lawrence lands a jab to Maia's midsection.
Lawrence cracks Maia with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Lawrence has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Maia to stand back up!
Lawrence throws a right hand that Maia ducks under and follows up with a left that Maia also avoids with ease.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Maia. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
A left lands for Lawrence.
Lawrence looks to score with a jab to the body but Maia is just out of range.
Lawrence misses with a straight right.
No joy there for Lawrence, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Lawrence moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Lawrence connects with a superb combination that knocks Maia out cold! The referee charges across the mat and tackles Lawrence before he can land any more shots to the unconscious Maia!
