PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Iwan Berestein (ranked 4374 p4p, 4412 weight class) and Shang Chi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Iwan Berestein!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shang Chi!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Gwen Towbar and Frank Dennis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Berestein cracks Chi with an open hand slap.
Berestein on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Berestein cracks a nice hook into Chi's ribs.
Chi has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Berestein finds it's way round the side to connect with Chi's head.
The crowd cheers as Berestein lands an impressive looking overhand right. Chi doesn't seem phased though.

Chi sends Berestein crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Chi is motioning to the referee to let Berestein up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Berestein is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Berestein just misses with a punch to the body.
Oh Berestein is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Chi misses with a double jab
and Berestein counters with a nice body shot.
Berestein seems to have got his legs back now.
Berestein connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Chi throws a lazy uppercut
and Berestein counters with a nice uppercut.
Berestein comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Chi dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Berestein avoids the head kick by Chi.
Berestein scores with a nice right hand.
Chi throws a body shot but no joy.
Chi moves forwards but Berestein connects with a nice, crisp jab.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Berestein stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Chi.
Chi takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Berestein is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Nice uppercut lands for Berestein. That snapped Chi's head back.
Berestein slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Chi throws a head kick but Berestein moves out of range.
Berestein uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Chi.
Berestein bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Chi's head backwards.
Berestein dodges the punch combination from Chi.
Berestein avoids the body shot from Chi.
Chi throws a sloppy body shot
and Berestein counters with a nice uppercut.
A decent looking cross lands there for Berestein.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Berestein on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Berestein connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Chi's hands.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Berestein cracks Chi with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Chi scores with the left hand. Berestein knows he should have avoided that one.
Berestein bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Chi takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Berestein connects with a jab.
Chi pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Chi lands a big head kick that sends Berestein tumbling to the mat! Chi takes a step backwards and waves Berestein back to his feet - he wants the finish!
A combination from Chi does no damage.
Good exchange - Berestein coming out on top.
Chi throws a head kick that misses
enabling Berestein to counter with a crisp jab.
Chi lands a big head kick that sends Berestein to the canvas! Chi follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!
