PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jorgen Kruth (ranked 744 p4p, 1183 weight class) and Shu Fang Tzeng (ranked 52 p4p, 84 weight class). Kruth comes into the arena with Black Hole Sun- Soundgarden blaring out of the sound system. Tzeng has chosen Mantra Chant as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jorgen Kruth!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 32 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Shu Fang Tzeng!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Percy O'Donnell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tzeng has taken the fight to the clinch.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Tzeng is looking to improve his position but Kruth isn't that keen on the idea.

Tzeng is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Kruth has taken his back.

Kruth is looking for a rear naked choke here but Tzeng reverses the position brilliantly into Kruth's guard!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kruth is on top in guard.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jorgen Kruth will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Kruth shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Tzeng sprawls well. Tzeng wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Kruth gets slowly back to his feet.

Kruth shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Tzeng's guard.

Kruth is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Tzeng is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Tzeng has escaped and now he's on top!


Tzeng drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Tzeng jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Tzeng drops back, looking for a kneebar! Kruth looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Kruth looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Kruth!

Jorgen Kruth overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Tzeng is trying to improve his position.

Kruth is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Tzeng's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Tzeng's back!

Tzeng is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Kruth off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Will Kruth go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

Kruth looking to break Tzeng's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Tzeng remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Kruth will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

After the fight, Jorgen Kruth was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
