PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ben Howell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sero Kim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kim has chosen CANON in D Korean Version (with gayageum) as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ben Howell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sero Kim!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Damien Edna and Skip Squint.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice uppercut lands for Kim. That snapped Howell's head back.

It looks like Ben Howell has been cut.
Howell walks forward, straight into a front kick from Kim.
Kim throws a nice inside leg kick.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kim tries to clinch up but Howell circles away and keeps his distance.
Howell closes the distance and clinches up with Kim, looking for a takedown. Howell pushes Kim against the cage but Kim circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Howell shoots in and drives through. Kim sprawls well.
Crunch! Kim slams his shin into Howell's torso.
Howell is breathing heavily.
Howell takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
A slapping body kick lands there for Kim.

Kim sets himself and throws a head kick that knocks Howell to the ground! Kim dives into full mount looking to finish!
Kim controlling the pace for now.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Howell could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Despite being in the dominant position, Sero Kim just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Howell on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Kim. Kim obviously looking to wear him down.
Kim lands with a cross.
Kim fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Howell.
Kim connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Oooh a lovely combination from Kim sends Howell down but not out. Kim dives into side control looking to finish.

Howell is rocked!

Ben Howell's cut is getting worse.
Kim takes a little break here. Howell wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Despite being in the dominant position, Sero Kim just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Howell throws a leg kick that is checked
and Kim counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Ben Howell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kim scores with a spinning back kick!
Kim goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kim throws a nice inside leg kick.
Kim throws a right and a left that Howell avoids nicely.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Howell crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Kim - the referee stops the clock and Howell gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Kim. Howell manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
An inside leg kick lands from Kim.
Howell takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Oooh a lovely combination from Kim sends Howell down but not out. Kim dives into side control looking to finish.
Oh Howell is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Ben Howell's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Kim cracks Howell with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Kim immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Howell is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Kim!
