Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Paul Bunyons (ranked 5293 p4p, 2232 weight class) and Bob White (ranked 370 p4p, 199 weight class). Paul Bunyons had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Paul Bunyons!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bob White!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Steve Smith and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

White fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bunyons sprawls well initially but White persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Bunyons looking for submissions off his back.

White is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Bunyons defends it well.
White is controlling the pace.
My spies in Julians Sports Bar & Gym inform me that White has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
White is working for a kimura but Bunyons is defending it quite comfortably.

White looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Bunyons is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

White can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Bunyons is looking to escape.

White feints and as Bunyons raises his hands in defense, White changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Bunyons has his foot on White's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. White works his way back into a safe position though.

You can see the frustration on Bunyons's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Let's hope that White has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Bunyons is controlling an arm, preventing White from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

Bunyons has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

White is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Bunyons defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Bunyons defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of White's arms.

White is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Bunyons knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Bunyons for a finish.

Bunyons drops back looking for a leg! White is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and White manages to kick Bunyons off! Bunyons jumps back into White's guard.

White is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Bunyons is aware though and is defending well.
Paul Bunyons has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
White is pulling down on Bunyons's head. It's preventing any offense from Bunyons, at least for the moment.

White is looking for a triangle but Bunyons pushes his legs off easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
White is controlling Bunyons's posture.
Bob White is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Bunyons throws an elbow that misses. White uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Bunyons's guard. Nice move by White!

Bob White comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well White has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
