Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Drew Brower!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ricardo Almeida!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Ren Mimura and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Almeida looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Brower throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Brower closes the distance but Almeida moves to the side
and Almeida counters with a nice double leg into side control. Brower won't be happy with that.
An elbow from Almeida crashes against the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brower tries to bench press Almeida off him but Almeida keeps the position.
Almeida is trying to get an arm triangle but Brower is defending well.
Brower is trying to get back to half guard.
Brower seems a little lost for a moment, as Almeida dominates the positioning.
Almeida has hold of Brower's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Brower tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Almeida cranks the arm and Brower screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Brower, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Ricardo Almeida!
