PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chaikka Chai (ranked 759 p4p, 850 weight class) and Rudi Kardi (ranked 125 p4p, 137 weight class). Chai comes to the cage accompanied by Dead Man Walking. Rudi Kardi is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 1, fighting out of London, Chaikka Chai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 2, fighting out of London, Rudi Kardi!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurstrm, Matti Vanhoillinen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chai pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Kardi ducks under a wild hook from Chai.
Kardi changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Kardi looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Chai is fending him off so far but Kardi persists. Nope, Chai circles away and we're back to standing.
Chai comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Kardi tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Chai manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
It looked like Chai wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Kardi doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chai misses with a jab, cross combination.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Kardi is defended easily by Chai.

Kardi looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Chai is fending him off so far but Kardi persists. Nope, Chai circles away and we're back to standing.
Chaikka Chai has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rudi Kardi.
Chai throws a body shot but no joy.
Kardi tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Chai defends well and Kardi ends up having to push Chai into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
We've been told by Chai's head coaches at Master Chai's Dojo that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

It looks like Rudi Kardi has been cut.
Kardi drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Kardi shoots in for a double leg but Chai sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Kardi dives in for a single leg takedown but Chai sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
It looked like Chai was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Kardi.

Kardi throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Chai was covering up waiting for the punch and Kardi finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kardi is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Chai is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Chai has escaped and now he's on top!

Chai has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Kardi is looking for a triangle but Chai pushes his legs off easily.

Kardi working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Chai doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Chai manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Kardi is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Chai is aware though and is defending well.

Chai displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Kardi.
Chai throws a head kick but Kardi moves out of range.

Kardi shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Chai as he jumps to the side.

Chai will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Chaikka Chai has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rudi Kardi.

Kardi scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Chai is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kardi can do to turn this around?

Chai's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Kardi is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Chai is just riding it out for now. Kardi eventually gives up the hold.

That was a close second round but I would say that Chaikka Chai will probably get the nod.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kardi works his way to full guard. Good work.
Kardi wants to sweep here but Chai controlling him for the moment.

Kardi is looking for a triangle but Chai pushes his legs off easily.
Kardi takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Kardi has his feet on Chai's thighs here. He's pushed Chai off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Chai screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
