PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mitsugu Takeishi (ranked 2267 p4p, 1778 weight class) and Reinhard Tristan Eugen Heydrich (ranked 121 p4p, 70 weight class). Takeishi comes into the arena with Kabuki Gomen-Jyo blaring out of the sound system. Heydrich has chosen Wass wollen wir trinken as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 34 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mitsugu Takeishi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Reinhard Tristan Eugen Heydrich!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, John Mangel and Topper Green.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Takeishi.
Heydrich drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Takeishi defends it well.
Takeishi shoots for a takedown but Heydrich saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
A countering left hand to the body from Heydrich misses.
Takeishi tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Heydrich defends well and Takeishi ends up having to push Heydrich into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Takeishi wants to break the clinch but can't.
Heydrich is looking to control Takeishi's arms but Takeishi gets an underhook and turns him. Now Heydrich has his back to the cage.

Takeishi's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Heydrich connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Heydrich throws a nice inside leg kick.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Heydrich has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Takeishi tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Heydrich paws at him with a jab and circles away.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A punch lands to the side of Takeishi 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Takeishi shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Heydrich pinned against the cage. Heydrich gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Heydrich has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Mitsugu Takeishi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Heydrich turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Takeishi misses with the combination.
Heydrich scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Takeishi is looking to land body kicks.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Takeishi tries to score a power double leg takedown but Heydrich sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Takeishi somewhat.
Heydrich drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Takeishi defends it well.
Heydrich connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Heydrich is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Takeishi had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.
Heydrich tests Takeishi's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Heydrich digs a good hook to Takeishi's body.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Takeishi throws out a leg kick but Heydrich moves out of range and Takeishi only half commits.
Takeishi tries to clinch up.
Takeishi takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Heydrich. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Takeishi tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Heydrich manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Takeishi shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Heydrich throws out a counter right but Takeishi avoids it with no problem.

Heydrich smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Takeishi shoots in and drives through. Heydrich sprawls well.
Takeishi shoots in for a takedown but Heydrich shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Heydrich has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Takeishi takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Oh Takeishi is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Heydrich lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Heydrich stuns Takeishi with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
and Heydrich counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Takeishi! He's just covering up as Heydrich starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!
