Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Leonard Nimoy (ranked 1776 p4p, 1974 weight class) and Alex Silva (ranked 289 p4p, 316 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Leonard Nimoy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 23 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alex Silva!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Reed Andrews and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nimoy throws a hook to the side of Silva's head but Silva sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Nimoy has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Silva misses with a body shot.
Silva lands with an overhand left.
Alex Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Silva jabs Nimoy to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Nimoy slips a jab from Silva.
Silva slips a straight right by Nimoy.
Nimoy uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Silva.
Nimoy lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Silva changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Silva throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Nimoy sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Nimoy steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Silva.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Silva has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Nice jab there from Nimoy.
Silva lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Nimoy fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Silva has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Silva loads up on a big right hand but Nimoy slips the punch.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Silva shoots for a takedown but Nimoy saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
It looked like Nimoy was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Silva scores with a sloppy right hand. Nimoy should have avoided that one.
Silva misses with a straight left.
Nimoy slips a jab from Silva.
Silva throws a hook but Nimoy blocks it.
Silva moves away from the strike by Nimoy.
Silva works Nimoy's body with a nice hook.
Silva needs to keep his hands up - Nimoy had a free shot at his head there.

Silva darts in looking for a takedown but Nimoy gets double underhooks and turns Silva into the cage.
Leonard Nimoy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alex Silva.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Nimoy, as that shot connected.

Nimoy appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.

Silva closes the distance and clinches up with Nimoy, looking for a takedown. Silva pushes Nimoy against the cage but Nimoy circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Nimoy swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

and Nimoy counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Silva throws a hook to the side of Nimoy's head but Nimoy sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Silva takes a swing at Nimoy's ribcage but misses.
Silva misses with a straight right.
A counter left hand to the body from Nimoy misses its target.
Nimoy feints and then cracks Silva's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Silva down.
Silva misses with a straight right.
Nimoy looks to land a right hand but Silva moved out of range.
Silva misses with a takedown attempt
and Nimoy cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Silva misses with a telegraphed body shot
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Silva paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Nimoy lands a slapping body shot.
Silva looks winded!
A shot to the body from Silva misses
and Nimoy makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Silva throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Silva takes one to the side of the head.
Silva misses with a body punch
and Nimoy counters with a left to the body.
Nimoy swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Silva.
Silva tries to move into range but Nimoy moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Silva takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Nimoy connects with a single shot there.
Silva is rocked!
Nimoy connects with a left and a right that sees a clearly hurt Silva covering up! Nimoy comes in with a big uppercut and Silva goes doooown! He's slumped up against the cage, eyes staring blankly into space.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Leonard Nimoy!
