PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Doko Dokov (ranked 1699 p4p, 2313 weight class) and Richmond Belvedere (ranked 231 p4p, 302 weight class). Doko Dokov had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 157.3lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Richmond Belvedere told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sloppy strikes from Dokov. Those never looked like landing.
Dokov looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Dokov has closed the distance and engaged Belvedere in a clinch.

Belvedere breaks the clinch.

Dokov shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Belvedere is trying to defend but Dokov finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Dokov not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Belvedere tries to get to full guard but Dokov has control of the leg.

Dokov is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Dokov wants to stand but Belvedere has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dokov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Belvedere looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
We've been hearing that Dokov has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dokov is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Belvedere can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Dokov lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Belvedere is rocked!
Dokov loads up with a big shot that hurts Belvedere! He's pulled Dokov in close but Dokov has postured up and lands more strikes. Can Belvedere survive? More strikes from Dokov and Belvedere is out! The ref jumps in to save him! Brutal ground and pound!
