Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Luna Gracie (ranked 5056 p4p, 4425 weight class) and Joao Perez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Luna Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joao Perez!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Mauricio Rocha and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Perez closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Gracie is trying to stand back up but Perez is controlling him
Gracie won't allow Perez to pass to mount.

Perez is working for a kimura but Gracie is defending it quite comfortably.

Perez drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Gracie manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Perez has Gracie in his guard.

Perez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gracie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Gracie seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Gracie stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Perez decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Perez shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Gracie's guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Perez can do anything to dispel that myth.
Gracie is keen to just control but Perez is a slippery customer.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Gracie wants to lay and pray for a moment but Perez keeps working.

and Perez counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Perez is working for a kimura here but Gracie manages to reverse the position and he's now in Perez's guard.

Perez has his foot on Gracie's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gracie works his way back into a safe position though.

Perez isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Gracie stacks Perez on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Gracie!

The referee warns Perez that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Gracie fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Perez wants to counter with a clinch but Gracie pushes him away.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Gracie enables Perez to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Gracie manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Gracie kicks Perez off and gets to his feet.

Gracie drives through and clinches with Perez against the cage.

Perez manages to pull guard.

Gracie is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Gracie has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Perez is proving hard to escape from.

Perez throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Gracie escapes and throws Perez's legs to the side, diving into side control!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Luna Gracie dominated that second round.
That's time! Gracie's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Perez shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Perez showed some decent athleticism there.
Gracie is refusing to be controlled, as Perez sits in half guard.
Perez is stalling here. Gracie is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Perez seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Gracie has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
