Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ilander Runner (ranked 25619 p4p, 4592 weight class) and Brian Hill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Brian Hill enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ilander Runner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Brian Hill!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Michael Johnstone and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hill avoids the head kick by Runner.
Hill misses with a combination
and Runner counters with a series of strikes. Hill will be more careful next time no doubt.
Hill throws a body shot but no joy.
An attempted straight right counter from Runner misses the target.
Runner definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Hill looks to land a combination but Runner avoids it well.
Runner appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Hill closes this distance looking for a takedown but Runner circles away.
Runner throws a leg kick

so Hill counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Runner wants to get back to his feet but Hill is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Hill is looking to pass into half guard but Runner pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Runner is in guard.

Runner tries to stand but Hill is controlling from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Runner gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Runner misses with a looping right.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Runner lands a nice leg kick that just misses Hill's sensitive parts.
Hill shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Runner as he jumps to the side.
Hill throws a right hand that Runner ducks under and follows up with a left that Runner also avoids with ease.
Runner tried to counter with a leg kick but Hill avoided it.

and Hill counters with a takedown into side control.

Runner sneaks out the side door and pushes Hill away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Hill throws a body shot but no joy.
Hill swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

so Hill counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Hill trying to control but Runner is working from the bottom.
Runner knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hill on the ground.
Hill looking to sit in guard and control but Runner gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Hill is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Hill has Runner pulled in close to control his posture.
Runner has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Hill is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


Hill is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Runner has managed to free his arm - good work.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Runner misses with a hook. Hill ducked under it nicely.
Hill shoots in for a double leg but Runner sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Hill swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Runner feinted there with a counter leg kick.
Hill throws a hook to the side of Runner's head but Runner sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
The fight stays on the outside here - Runner looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

and Runner counters with a head kick. That will keep Hill thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hill swings for the body but Runner moves out of range.
Runner seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Hill misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Runner fires out a quick counter leg kick but Hill just manages to avoid it.
Ilander Runner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brian Hill.

Brian Hill seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Runner tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Hill is able to avoid easily.
Hill swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Runner counters with a leg kick.
Hill looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Runner looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.

Hill will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Runner jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.

Hill tries to bum rush Runner with a series of wild strikes but Runner uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Runner tried to counter with a leg kick but Hill avoided it.
Hill throws a looping overhand right but Runner ducks down to avoid it.

Hill drives through with a takedown into guard.
Runner is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Hill forces his way into half guard.

Hill looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Hill drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Runner defends it well.

Hill is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Runner defends it well.

Hill goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Runner turns into him and now he's in Hill's guard.

Hill working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Runner doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Runner manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Hill is pulling down on Runner's head. It's preventing any offense from Runner, at least for the moment.
Runner has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Hill is proving hard to escape from.

Runner is sitting in close to Hill's body. Hill has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Runner is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Runner is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Hill.
