Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Maks Pulkin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Fedor Emelianenko! The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Viktor Lagutenko and Dmitry Maklakov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Emelianenko shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. The fight stays on the outside here - Emelianenko looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Emelianenko fails with a takedown attempt. Emelianenko closes the distance and clinches up with Pulkin, looking for a takedown. Emelianenko pushes Pulkin against the cage but Pulkin circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Maks Pulkin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fedor Emelianenko. Pulkin stuffs the takedown. Pulkin drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Emelianenko keeping moving, preventing Pulkin from controlling successfully. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pulkin looking to pass the guard. Emelianenko has his foot on Pulkin's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pulkin works his way back into a safe position though. Emelianenko is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Pulkin is controlling him. Pulkin will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Emelianenko trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Emelianenko looks gassed! Pulkin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Emelianenko swivels though and keeps the full guard. Pulkin throws a big right hand that misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Emelianenko can't keep his opponent in guard - Pulkin advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Pulkin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Emelianenko keeps working. Pulkin working Emelianenko over with strikes. Pulkin is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Emelianenko defends it well. Pulkin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Emelianenko keeps working. That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Emelianenko is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Pulkin looking to pass the guard. Emelianenko is looking to stand up but Pulkin isn't so interested in that idea. Pulkin seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Pulkin passes into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Emelianenko is staying active underneath Pulkin, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Pulkin sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Emelianenko defending well though. Pulkin decides to stand up. Pulkin shoots in and bounces Emelianenko off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Pulkin with a flurry of punches that miss. Pulkin trying to control the position from guard on top but Emelianenko is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Emelianenko is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Pulkin is controlling him. Pulkin preventing the sweep. Emelianenko is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pulkin rushes Emelianenko and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Pulkin jumps guard.
Emelianenko being controlled here momentarily. Emelianenko postures up and lands a big shot to Pulkin's brow. Pulkin looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Emelianenko working some strikes from top position. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Pulkin is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Emelianenko stands up over Pulkin, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Emelianenko wants to stand but Pulkin is controlling his posture from full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Emelianenko trying to control but Pulkin is working from the bottom. Emelianenko tries to free his leg and advance position but Pulkin is retaining full guard. Emelianenko is fighting to break Pulkin's control of his arms but Pulkin is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Pulkin preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Pulkin wants to sweep here but Emelianenko controlling him for the moment. Emelianenko throws and elbow that misses. Pulkin uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Emelianenko's guard. Nice move by Pulkin! Emelianenko throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Pulkin throws a series of punches but Emelianenko moves out of range. Pulkin shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Emelianenko is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Pulkin is controlling him. Pulkin showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Pulkin looking to pass the guard. Emelianenko manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pulkin manages to get himself to full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Emelianenko landing some decent shots from guard. Pulkin utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Emelianenko looking to sit in guard and control but Pulkin gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Pulkin wants to stand and escape but instead Emelianenko has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Emelianenko decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Pulkin throws a sloppy head kick and Emelianenko moves out of range easily. Maks Pulkin is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Emelianenko misses with a straight left. Emelianenko with a lazy takedown attempt and Pulkin counters with a nice double leg into side control. Emelianenko won't be happy with that. Pulkin stands up. Emelianenko wants to clinch but Pulkin slips to the side and Pulkin counters with a single leg into guard. Emelianenko didn't expect that. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Pulkin's corner is telling him to maintain position. Pulkin trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Emelianenko working a defensive guard here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Emelianenko looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pulkin is one step ahead there. Pulkin forces his way into half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Maks Pulkin dominated that second round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
Emelianenko throws a combination that misses so Pulkin counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Pulkin wants to control from the top but Emelianenko keeps moving. Emelianenko is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Emelianenko wants to stand and escape but Pulkin is having none of it. Emelianenko trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Emelianenko has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Pulkin has passed into side control.
Emelianenko tries to escape but Pulkin is in control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Pulkin works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Maks Pulkin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Pulkin darts in and clinches Emelianenko up against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pulkin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Pulkin bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Emelianenko is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Emelianenko tries to roll over but Pulkin keeps him under control. Pulkin thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Emelianenko's head. Pulkin wants to get back to his feet.
Pulkin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Emelianenko on the ground. Emelianenko wants to control but Pulkin is keeping busy and won't allow it. Pulkin throwing shots but Emelianenko is blocking nicely.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Pulkin has closed the distance and engaged Emelianenko in a clinch.
Pulkin gets a trip takedown into half guard. Emelianenko is refusing to be controlled, as Pulkin sits in half guard. Emelianenko wants to get back to his feet. Pulkin takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Pulkin is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Emelianenko has managed to free his arm - good work. Emelianenko looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Emelianenko wants to get back to his feet.

Pulkin gets control of Emelianenko's arms and successfully pulls guard. Pulkin will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Emelianenko keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Pulkin's head. Pulkin is trying to control the position but Emelianenko postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Emelianenko wants to control from the top but Pulkin keeps moving. Emelianenko gets to his feet - Pulkin follows without any prompting. Pulkin feints and as Emelianenko raises his hands in defense, Pulkin changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Emelianenko bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Pulkin's guard. Emelianenko would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Pulkin seems keen to control Emelianenko's posture. Pulkin kicks Emelianenko off and gets to his feet. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Emelianenko misses with a takedown and Pulkin counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Fedor Emelianenko has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Maks Pulkin is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Pulkin blocks the strikes from Emelianenko.
And that's the end of the fight! Maks Pulkin showed his dominance in that final round. Well Pulkin has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
