Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Pai Mei (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hidetaka Sato (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sato is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Maximum the Hormone - Buikikaesu. Hidetaka Sato has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Taro Takaoka and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sato throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Sato throws a series of strikes that have Mei backpedaling.
Sato fails to land with a series of punches.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Mei shoots in for a takedown but Sato shows good takedown defense.
Sato throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Left hook, right uppercut from Sato.
Hidetaka Sato seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mei fails in his attempt to clinch.
Mei wants to clinch up but Sato keeps it at a distance.
Mei closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Sato to the mat! Sato manages to get full guard.
Mei wants to control from the top but Sato keeps moving.
Mei is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Sato is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Sato looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Mei has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Mei thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Mei wants to control from the top but Sato keeps moving.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Mei throws a right and a left that both miss.
Sato looks to land a combination but Mei avoids it well.
Nice sprawl there from Sato as Mei shoots in.
Sato rushes Mei and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch.
Sato lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Mei tries to roll over but Sato keeps him under control.
Sato is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Mei doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Sato.

Sato must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Mei checks a leg kick.
Mei will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Some bone on bone action there as Mei checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Sato throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Mei is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Sato's half guard.
Mei seems to be looking for submissions.
Mei prevents Sato from improving his position.
Mei wants to stand but Sato has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Sato is refusing to be controlled, as Mei sits in half guard.
Sato keeps control of the position for the meantime.

Mei is looking to advance position but Sato won't allow it.
Sato tries to kick Mei off but Mei keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Sato wants to control but Mei is keeping busy and won't allow it.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Mei tries to clinch but Sato moves out of range.
Sato lands with a kick to the temple. Mei shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Sato misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Mei misses with a series of wild punches.
Mei throws a right and a left that Sato avoids nicely.

Sato scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Mei doesn't seem bothered though.
Sato misses with a few strikes there.
Sato throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Mei counters with a three punch combo that has Sato backing up. Sato nods at Mei to acknowledge the strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Hidetaka Sato dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Sato misses with a series of wild punches.
Mei tries to clinch up.
Sato throws a head kick that misses.
Mei checks the leg kick.
A solid body kick from Mei.
Sato misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Mei counters with a one-two to the body.
A head kick misses from Mei.
Mei fails with an attempt to clinch.
Mei rushes Sato and presses him up against the ropes.
Mei breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Mei looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Sato is fending him off so far but Mei persists. Nope, Sato circles away and we're back to standing.
Mei tries to score a power double leg takedown but Sato sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mei somewhat.
Sato scores with a spinning back kick!
Mei bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Mei prevents Sato from improving his position.
Mei is looking to take a break and control but Sato is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Mei is working for a kimura but Sato is defending it quite comfortably.
Mei wants to stand up but Sato is controlling the position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Sato makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Sato.
Sato has his feet on Mei's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Sato throws the kick towards the body but Mei avoids it.
A head kick by Sato misses
and Mei counters with a takedown into side control.
Mei is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Sato looks calm but he's in trouble here. Mei gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Sato is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Mei lets go of the hold and Sato can pop his arm back in it's socket.
