Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ichirai Hoshi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hidetoshi Nakata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hidetoshi Nakata has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ichirai Hoshi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hidetoshi Nakata!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nakata shoots in and bounces Hoshi off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard.
Nakata postures up.
Nakata must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Nakata trying to control the position from guard on top but Hoshi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hoshi wants to get back to his feet but Nakata is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Nakata wants to control from the top but Hoshi keeps moving.

Hoshi throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Nakata escapes and throws Hoshi's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Hoshi is not content to let Nakata control the position.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Hoshi drives through with a takedown into guard.
Hoshi is standing up over Nakata. Nakata looks to escape but Hoshi dives into side control.

Hoshi goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Nakata rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Hoshi's guard! Nice work there by Nakata!

Nakata seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hoshi does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Nakata closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hoshi to the mat! Hoshi manages to get full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Nakata accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Nakata working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Hoshi's head.

Hoshi controls Nakata momentarily but Nakata frees himself.

Nakata gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Nakata takes the fight into the clinch.

Nakata breaks the clinch.

Hoshi closes the distance and clinches.
Nakata jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hoshi walks away with a smile on his face. Nakata gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Nakata uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Hoshi.
Nakata tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Nakata fails with the takedown

and Hoshi counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Nakata's guard now.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Nakata looking for subs off his back but Hoshi has passed one foot through into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Hidetoshi Nakata will probably get the nod.
That's time! Hoshi's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Hoshi has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Nakata is working away from the top position though.
Nakata is nestled in close to Hoshi, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Hoshi is staying active underneath Nakata, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Nakata throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Nakata is trying to control the action in half guard but Hoshi is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

and Hoshi counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Hoshi.

Hoshi is trying to work for a kimura but Nakata is defending well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Nakata tries to roll over but Hoshi keeps him under control.
Nakata makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Nakata.

Nakata wants to stand but Hoshi is controlling the position.

Nakata pushes Hoshi off and gets back to his feet.
Hoshi tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Nakata counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Hoshi tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Hoshi really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Nakata misses with a takedown attempt

so Hoshi counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Hoshi will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Hoshi wants to pass the guard but Nakata is keeping the position.
Hoshi wants to control from the top but Nakata keeps moving.

Nakata looking for a guillotine here but Hoshi defends easily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Hidetoshi Nakata showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Nakata takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Hoshi throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Hoshi closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Hoshi wants to control but Nakata is keeping him busy.
Nakata is looking for a sweep.
Nakata gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Hidetoshi Nakata has got the better of the ground game so far.

Nakata is trying to stand up here but Hoshi is controlling him well.

Nakata kicks Hoshi off and gets back to his feet.
Nakata closes the distance and clinches up with Hoshi, looking for a takedown. Nakata pushes Hoshi against the ropes but Hoshi circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Ichirai Hoshi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hidetoshi Nakata.

Hoshi wants the takedown. Nakata is fighting it off but Hoshi persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Nakata's guard against the ropes.

Hoshi is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Nakata is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Hoshi looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Nakata wants to improve his position but Hoshi is controlling well.

Nakata looking for submissions off his back.
Hoshi has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Nakata works to full guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ichirai Hoshi showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Nakata has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
