Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ivan Makarov (ranked 4162 p4p, 2731 weight class) and Ben Godfrey (ranked 0 p4p, 407 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Godfrey's choice of entrance music: Where the Streets Have No Name - U2. Ben Godfrey will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Godfrey darts in trying to clinch

and Makarov counters with a nice double leg into side control. Godfrey won't be happy with that.
Makarov wants to lay and pray for a moment but Godfrey keeps working.
Makarov postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Godfrey manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Makarov preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Makarov is trying to maintain the position but Godfrey is very close to passing his half guard.

Makarov looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Makarov is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Godfrey's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Godfrey's back!

Godfrey looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Makarov throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Godfrey!

Makarov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Godfrey is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
