The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valo will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Joe throws out a loose jab but Valo uses good head movement to avoid it.
Valo moves into the clinch successfully.
Valo slowing the pace effectively.
Joe jumps guard.
Valo is looking to work some ground and pound but Joe has wrist control.
Joe is looking for a triangle but Valo pushes his legs off easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Valo wants to get up but he can't break Joe's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Valo has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Joe pulls Valo in close to his closed guard and prevents Valo from doing any damage or advancing position.

Valo is sitting in close to Joe's body. Joe has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Valo is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Valo is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Joe.
