The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Verkowski fails to land the takedown.

Verkowski looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Carey!
Carey is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Carey is trying desperately to improve position.
Carey tries to lock up and control but Verkowski gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Carey gets back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Verkowski is working for a kimura here but Carey manages to reverse the position and he's now in Verkowski's guard.
Verkowski can't keep his opponent in guard - Carey advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Verkowski wants to get back to full guard.
Verkowski knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Carey on the ground.
Carey tries to pass to full mount but Verkowski defends it.
Carey passes to full mount!
Verkowski has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
Verkowski is breathing heavily.

Carey has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Verkowski is defending well but eventually Carey manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Verkowski has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!
