PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jay Simon (ranked 641 p4p, 360 weight class) and Satanic Panic (ranked 98 p4p, 57 weight class). Panic has chosen Freezing Moon as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 34 - 15 - 2, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jay Simon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Satanic Panic!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A decent looking cross lands there for Simon.
Simon connects with a nice looking jab.
Simon keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Panic throws a looping overhand right but Simon ducks down to avoid it.
Simon scores with a shot to the body.
Donk. Panic catches Simon right on the button with a cross.

Simon shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Panic napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Simon is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Panic has escaped the position, nice work there.
Simon tries to advance position but instead Panic slips a leg back in to half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Simon is just content to waste time from the top position. Panic takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Simon wants to improve his position but instead Panic has moved into half guard.

Simon is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Panic pulls his head out easily.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Simon is staying active underneath Panic, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Panic gets caught napping as Simon dives in and scores a takedown. Panic manages to retain guard.

The fighters are battling for position here. Panic manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Panic bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Simon's guard.


Simon is looking for a triangle but Panic pushes his legs off easily.
Simon seems keen to control Panic's posture.
Simon is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Panic can do to turn this around?
Panic slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Simon is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Jay Simon overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Simon throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Panic escapes and throws Simon's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Simon is looking to regain half guard here but Panic keeps moving and retains side control.
Simon manages to work his way to half guard, despite Panic's best efforts.

Panic moves into full mount! Simon won't be happy about that!

Simon is trying to reverse the position but instead Panic has taken his back - oops!
Simon looking very determined here, making life difficult for Panic.
Simon rolls, trying to escape but Panic keeps control of the position.
Panic is riding his opponent, not letting Simon buck him off.
Simon trying to control the action but Panic just sinks the hooks in.
Well, with Panic on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Simon is tapping out... Can he escape the position?

Simon turns into Panic and is now in his guard.

Panic escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Simon gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Simon passes Panic's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Simon is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Panic doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Simon.
Panic tries to roll over but Simon keeps him under control.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jay Simon will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Panic throws a solid leg kick but Simon takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Panic.

Simon closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Simon lands in his opponent's guard.

Simon wants to control from the top but Panic keeps moving.

Simon has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Panic to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Simon is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Panic pulls down on the head and he's put Simon to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:44 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Satanic Panic!
A relieved looking Satanic Panic thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
