PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cleostrata Quintillus (ranked 3701 p4p, 4092 weight class) and Hristo Borisov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hristo Borisov is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cleostrata Quintillus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 17 - 0, fighting out of London, Hristo Borisov!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Dillan Fox and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Borisov shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Quintillus napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Borisov working away.
Quintillus tries to strike but it doesn't land.

Borisov tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Borisov has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Quintillus can't do much from the bottom here.

Borisov tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Quintillus wants to control but Borisov postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Quintillus tries to buck Borisov off but Borisov is having none of it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Quintillus manages to work his way to half guard, despite Borisov's best efforts.
Quintillus is looking to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Borisov wants to control but Quintillus is keeping him busy.

Borisov is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Quintillus doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Borisov.

Borisov is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Quintillus is just riding it out for now. Borisov eventually gives up the hold.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Borisov looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Quintillus trying to control here.
Quintillus is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Borisov seems to be working for a kimura but Quintillus defends the submission attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Borisov is thwarting Quintillus's attempts to control the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Borisov moves into the clinch successfully.
Stalling in the clinch from Quintillus.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Quintillus for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.
Quintillus misses with a hook to the ribs.
Quintillus is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Quintillus is pressed up against the cage. Borisov has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Quintillus down to the mat. Quintillus avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Quintillus fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Borisov scores with a decent looking hook.
Quintillus shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Borisov as he avoids it easily.
Borisov wants to counter with a clinch but Quintillus pushes him away.

Borisov darts in and clinches Quintillus up against the cage.
Quintillus doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Quintillus taking a breather.
Stalling in the clinch from Quintillus.
Quintillus stalling in the clinch.
Quintillus is trying to break the clinch but Borisov is controlling him.
Quintillus displaying some good clinch control by pressing Borisov up against the cage.
Borisov can't get the takedown.
Cleostrata Quintillus has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hristo Borisov.
Borisov is looking for a takedown.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Quintillus misses with a punch on the inside.
Borisov is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Borisov has Quintillus pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Quintillus manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Quintillus throws a head punch that misses.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Hristo Borisov dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Quintillus dives in and grabs Borisov's left leg, looking for a takedown. Borisov pushes down on Quintillus's head and hops out.

Quintillus gets a double leg takedown into Borisov's guard.
Quintillus wants to control from the top but Borisov keeps moving.
Quintillus keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Borisov's head.
Quintillus advances position into side control!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Borisov can do anything to dispel that myth.

Borisov can't do much from the bottom here.

Quintillus wants to control but Borisov is keeping him busy.

Quintillus looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Quintillus lands some shots froms side control.
You can see the frustration on Borisov's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Quintillus lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Borisov down.
Borisov is not content to let Quintillus control the position.
Borisov regains half guard there - taking advantage of Quintillus's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Quintillus is keen to just control but Borisov is a slippery customer.

Borisov moves into full guard.
Quintillus looking to sit in guard and control but Borisov gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


Borisov drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Quintillus manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Borisov has Quintillus in his guard.

Quintillus lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Quintillus is in close to Borisov's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Cleostrata Quintillus overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Quintillus working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Borisov's head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Quintillus wants to control from the top but Borisov keeps moving.
Quintillus postures up and lands a big shot to Borisov's brow.
Quintillus postures up in Borisov's guard and throws a big left but Borisov blocks it.
Quintillus throws a big elbow that misses.
Quintillus working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Borisov wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Quintillus postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Quintillus has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Quintillus wants to control from the top but Borisov keeps moving.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Borisov decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Quintillus tries to roll over but Borisov keeps him under control.

Let's hope that Borisov has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Borisov seems to be trying to get a kimura but instead Quintillus has recovered full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Borisov stays in close to Quintillus's body and controls the position.

Quintillus wants to sweep but no luck.
Quintillus throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Quintillus bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Borisov's guard.

Quintillus lands a couple of elbows.

Borisov working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Quintillus.
Quintillus working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

Borisov is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Quintillus's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Quintillus looking to sit in guard and control but Borisov gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Borisov trying to control from half guard but Quintillus is working away.
Quintillus is trying to maintain the position but Borisov is very close to passing his half guard.

Quintillus wants to control but Borisov is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Quintillus is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Borisov is trying to work for a kimura but Quintillus is defending well.
Borisov wants to advance to full mount but Quintillus doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Quintillus trying to keep a closed guard but Borisov is proving a slippery customer.
Quintillus lands a decent shot there.
Borisov stopping the sweep attempt from Quintillus.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Borisov lands with a slapping head kick.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Quintillus.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Hristo Borisov comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Borisov has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
