Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Uchima Gonshiro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mitch Bellard!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Shirou Masuda and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gonshiro throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Gonshiro shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Bellard pinned against the cage. Bellard gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Gonshiro closes the distance but Bellard moves to the side
and Bellard counters with a nice double leg into side control. Gonshiro won't be happy with that.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Bellard thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Gonshiro being controlled for a moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gonshiro is looking to reverse the position.
The ground and pound from Bellard seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Bellard is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Gonshiro looks calm but he's in trouble here. Bellard gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Gonshiro is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Bellard lets go of the hold and Gonshiro can pop his arm back in it's socket.
