Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Barry Carter (ranked 2503 p4p, 1518 weight class) and Mark Rapheal (ranked 322 p4p, 204 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Barry Carter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mark Rapheal!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Dmitry Maklakov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carter tries to close the distance and clinch but Rapheal swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Carter misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Rapheal.
Carter throws a body shot but no joy.
Carter bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Rapheal's head backwards.
Carter swings away with a body shot that misses
and Rapheal counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Carter tries to clinch but Rapheal is having none of it.
Rapheal throws out a counter right but Carter avoids it with no problem.
Carter tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Carter takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

It looks like Barry Carter has been cut.
Rapheal takes one on the chin but seems OK.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carter misses with a double jab
and Rapheal counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Carter looks to land a left hand but Rapheal moved out of range nicely.
Carter misses with a wild body shot.
Barry Carter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Carter wants to clinch up but Rapheal keeps it at a distance.

That's one minute gone in the round.

enabling Rapheal to counter with a crisp jab.

Carter misses with a lunging right hand
and Rapheal counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Oh Carter is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Carter is breathing heavily.
Carter glances at the clock... BAM! Rapheal nails him with a big right hand! A momentary lapse in concentration sends Carter crashing to the mat! The referee steps in and this one is over! Damn, Carter is out of it, he thinks the ref is his opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Mark Rapheal!
After winning the bout, Mark Rapheal thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
