PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Blake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shogun Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blake's entrance music is Eye of the tiger. A fine choice. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Winston Howard and Hugh Johnson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva lands a body shot.

Blake has Silva up against the cage in a clinch.
Silva tries to break the clinch but Blake is controlling the position.
Blake has Silva pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Silva manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Blake pulls Silva into guard.
Blake not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Blake wants to stand and escape but Silva is having none of it.
Silva wanted to stand there but Blake had control of the position.
Blake controls Silva momentarily but Silva frees himself.
Blake is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Silva cracks Blake with a big right hand and Blake goes down!

Blake is rocked!

It looks like Johnny Blake has been cut.
Blake is breathing heavily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Blake looking to control.
Silva wanted to stand there but Blake had control of the position.
Silva is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Blake tries to strike from the bottom.
Silva wants to stand but Blake has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Blake is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Blake wants to stand and escape but Silva is having none of it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Silva is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Blake flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Blake is out cold! Silva holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!
