PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ricky Greene (ranked 1834 p4p, 1870 weight class) and Jean Luc Petit (ranked 112 p4p, 114 weight class). Greene comes to the cage accompanied by Stepdad- Eminem. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 13 - 0, fighting out of London, Ricky Greene!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jean Luc Petit!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Sam Margolis and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Petit tries to clinch up.
Donk. Greene catches Petit right on the button with a cross.
Petit fails with a takedown attempt.
Petit rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Greene moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Greene looks to land a combination but Petit avoids it well.

Petit gets a clinch.
Petit tries to pull guard but Greene forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Greene tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Petit smiles and moves away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Petit shoots in and drives through. Greene sprawls well.
Greene has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Deathsquad in the buildup to the fight.
Ricky Greene has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jean Luc Petit.
Greene tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Petit was well out of range. Poor timing from Greene.
Petit lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Petit shoots in but Greene avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Jean Luc Petit seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Petit throws a leg kick

and Greene counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Greene wants to control from the top but Petit keeps moving.
Greene is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Greene trying to control the position from guard on top but Petit is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Greene sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Greene thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Greene wants to control from the top but Petit keeps moving.

Petit has his foot on Greene's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Greene works his way back into a safe position though.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Petit dives in for a single leg takedown but Greene sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
No luck for Petit with that takedown attempt.
Petit throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Greene, as that shot connected.
Greene misses with a body shot.
Petit shoots in but no luck this time.

A telegraphed right hand from Greene misses the target.
Petit looks for the body kick but Greene saw that one coming.
Petit is looking to clinch.
Petit fails with an attempt to clinch.
Petit shoots in and drives through. Greene sprawls well.
Greene closes the distance and clinches up with Petit, looking for a takedown. Greene pushes Petit against the cage but Petit circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Petit steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Greene.
Greene lands a really nice looking cross but Petit seems unphased.
Petit bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Greene is defended easily by Petit.
Petit fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Greene changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Greene shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Petit is trying to defend but Greene finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Petit manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Greene keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Greene tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Petit's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
A head punch blocked on the inside by Petit.
Greene works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Greene is trying to pull guard but Petit turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Petit breaks from the clinch.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Petit lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Greene has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Greene and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Greene changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Greene is looking to clinch but Petit is avoiding it.

Greene wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Petit, who protects the arm well.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Greene is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Petit is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Petit ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Petit moves into the clinch.
Greene tries to throw a body punch but Petit avoids it by throwing Greene back against the cage.
Greene jumps guard but Petit stands there with Greene around his waist. Greene gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Petit has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Greene is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Greene misses with a punch on the inside.
Greene works on Petit's body with a couple of short punches.

Greene prevents Petit from breaking the clinch.

Greene jumps guard and drags Petit to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Jean Luc Petit has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Petit working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Greene doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Greene manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Well Greene has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
