Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dutch Schultz (ranked 2054 p4p, 2627 weight class) and Alex Silva (ranked 318 p4p, 394 weight class). Dutch Schultz had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 32 - 35 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dutch Schultz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 24 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alex Silva!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Percy O'Donnell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva throws a body punch but Schultz moves out of range.
Silva misses with a right hand

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Silva has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Schultz knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Silva on the ground.
Silva sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Schultz's guard.

Silva might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Schultz haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Silva ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Schultz moves away.

Silva stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Dutch Schultz will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Schultz here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Silva shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Schultz manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Silva drops back, looking for a kneebar! Schultz looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Schultz looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Schultz!

You can see the frustration on Silva's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
