The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alaba clinches up with Sturlaugsson and pushes him back against the cage.

Sturlaugsson is trying to drag Alaba to the mat but Alaba just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Sturlaugsson tries to score a body lock takedown but Alaba shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Alaba lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Sturlaugsson backwards.
Sturlaugsson is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Alaba gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Alaba is pressed up against the cage. Sturlaugsson has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Alaba down to the mat. Alaba avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Alaba closes the distance and pushes Sturlaugsson back into the cage.
Sturlaugsson drops down looking for an ankle pick but Alaba pulls his leg out and moves away.
Alaba rushes Sturlaugsson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Sturlaugsson has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Alaba is trying to keep an underhook but Sturlaugsson manages to get the takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Alaba flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Sturlaugsson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Alaba does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Sturlaugsson uses his free foot to push down on Alaba's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Alaba.
Sturlaugsson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Alaba is looking to escape.
Alaba has given up his back here.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Alaba is trying to defend against the choke here but Sturlaugsson has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Sturlaugsson Tightens the hold and Alaba taps out furiously! Sturlaugsson displays superior BJJ to win the fight.
