PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jerome Kyrylo (ranked 4055 p4p, 3922 weight class) and Scott Thompson (ranked 445 p4p, 431 weight class). Thompson has chosen Redneck Summer - Ben Hudson as his entrance music. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jerome Kyrylo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Scott Thompson!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Arvi Lind and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson cracks Kyrylo with a right hand to the side of the head.
Thompson misses the body punch
and Kyrylo counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Thompson scores with a hook to the body. Kyrylo takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Thompson has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Thompson throws a body shot but no joy.
Kyrylo half committed to a counter leg kick.
Thompson throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kyrylo stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Kyrylo scores with a hook to the body. Thompson takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kyrylo. Thompson does a little dance to reset his feet.
Thompson swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Kyrylo takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

It looks like Jerome Kyrylo has been cut.
Thompson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kyrylo as he jumps to the side.

and Kyrylo counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Thompson stuns Kyrylo with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Kyrylo lands a jab.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Thompson misses with a takedown
and Kyrylo counters with a straight right hand.
Kyrylo looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Kyrylo digs a good hook to Thompson's body.
Thompson shoots in for a double leg but Kyrylo sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
An attempted straight right counter from Kyrylo misses the target.
Jerome Kyrylo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Scott Thompson.
Kyrylo explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Thompson looks winded!
Kyrylo takes a swing at Thompson's ribcage but misses.
Thompson has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Thompson there as he acknowledges the shot.

Kyrylo feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Thompson sprawling to the canvas! Thompson rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Kyrylo finish him?!

Thompson is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kyrylo is stalking Thompson. Thompson circles to his left. Keeps circling left. Bam! Straight right from Kyrylo, and it's lights out! Thompson really payed the price for that rookie mistake.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jerome Kyrylo!
A very excited looking Jerome Kyrylo made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
