PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Edward Kenway (ranked 3741 p4p, 24878 weight class) and David Brenda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Edward Kenway!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, David Brenda!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kenway connects with a solid leg kick.

Kenway has closed the distance and engaged Brenda in a clinch.
Kenway tries to pull guard but Brenda won't allow it.

and Kenway takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Brenda tries to counter with a clinch but Kenway shakes him off and moves away.
Brenda takes one to the chin there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Brenda dives in for a single leg takedown but Kenway sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Kenway changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Brenda tries to avoid it but Kenway manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Brenda to the ground. Brenda escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Edward Kenway seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Our spies down at at Besta-Fera Training Center inform us that Brenda has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Brenda shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kenway sprawls well. Kenway wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Brenda gets slowly back to his feet.
Kenway fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Brenda avoids it really well and circles away.

and Brenda counters with a straight right hand.
Brenda tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

and Brenda counters with a left and a right that stings Kenway.

Brenda shoots in and drives through. Kenway sprawls well.
Horrible takedown attempt by Kenway or perhaps it was just good defense by Brenda, which made it look bad.

and Brenda counters with a one-two to the body.
Brenda fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Kenway gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Brenda counters with a three punch combo that has Kenway backing up. Kenway nods at Brenda to acknowledge the strikes.

Brenda changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kenway looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Kenway wants to get back to his feet but Brenda is dominant here and he's now got Kenway's back!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kenway is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Brenda.
Brenda has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Brenda has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Kenway's body.

David Brenda showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Kenway ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Kenway no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Brenda can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Kenway controls the pace.
David Brenda has got the better of the ground game so far.

Brenda is pulling down on Kenway's head. It's preventing any offense from Kenway, at least for the moment.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Kenway is looking to pass into half guard but Brenda pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Brenda is in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Brenda sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Kenway's guard.
Well, if Brenda is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Brenda prevents Kenway from standing back up.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

As Kenway backs off Brenda throws a huge counter combo but Kenway manages to avoid it all.
Kenway shoots in but Brenda avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kenway slaps away a takedown attempt from Brenda, before circling back to the center of the mat.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to David Brenda.
I've got Brenda winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
