Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Eh Phuthong!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Otto McBean!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, John Mangel and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McBean changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Phuthong tries to avoid it but McBean manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Phuthong to the ground. Phuthong escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Phuthong lunges at McBean with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by McBean's hand.
McBean moves out of range as Phuthong strikes.
A shot to the liver by McBean. Beautiful body shot.
Phuthong throws a shot from downtown. McBean moves away and avoids it.
Phuthong slaps away a takedown attempt from McBean, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Phuthong lands a jab to McBean's midsection.
Phuthong pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
McBean uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Phuthong.
McBean on the wrong end of a nice jab.
McBean shoots for a takedown but Phuthong saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Eh Phuthong has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Otto McBean.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Phuthong is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
McBean throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Phuthong's waist but Phuthong gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing McBean off to one side.
McBean shoots in looking for a takedown but Phuthong manages to keep the fight standing, pushing McBean's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

McBean tries for a takedown but Phuthong sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
McBean ducks under a wild hook from Phuthong.

McBean on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Eh Phuthong seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A telegraphed right hand from Phuthong misses the target.

McBean drives through with a takedown into Phuthong's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
McBean passes Phuthong's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Phuthong flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Phuthong misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Phuthong's coaches at ubergym have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.

McBean is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Phuthong defends it well.
McBean works his foot free and advances to mount.
Phuthong is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Phuthong flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Phuthong throwing hammer fists to the chest of McBean. What's that going to do exactly?

McBean looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
McBean blocks Phuthong's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.

McBean working for a guillotine from mount but Phuthong is in no mood to give up.

McBean working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Phuthong throws up some feeble strikes from the bottom. McBean smiles and locks on to an arm, pivoting beautifully as he drops to the side for an armbar. Phuthong tries momentarily to escape but he knows he's done and taps furiously to avoid injury. Confident submission skills displayed there by McBean.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Otto McBean!
