Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between KJ Hoodwell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yuri Gagarin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hoodwell's entrance music is Boom (How You Like That). A fine choice. Hoodwell has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gagarin lands a right hook to the body.
Hoodwell is breathing heavily.
Gagarin lands a nice hook to Hoodwell's body. Hoodwell takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Gagarin scores with a one two! Hoodwell had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

It looks like KJ Hoodwell has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Gagarin looks to land a combination but Hoodwell avoids it well.
Hoodwell closes the distance and clinches up with Gagarin, looking for a takedown. Hoodwell pushes Gagarin against the cage but Gagarin circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Gagarin is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round!Hoodwell had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Gagarin connects with a good right hand that stumbles Hoodwell. Hoodwell circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Hoodwell gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

and Gagarin connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Hoodwell shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Gagarin but Gagarin pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Gagarin lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Hoodwell backs up against the cage.
Gagarin lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
A right-left combo lands from Gagarin.
Gagarin scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Gagarin scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Gagarin is working the combinations to good effect here.
Hoodwell shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Gagarin but Gagarin pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for KJ Hoodwell. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gagarin punishes Hoodwell's body with a nice straight punch.
Horrible takedown by Hoodwell or perhaps it was just good defense by Gagarin which made him look bad.
Gagarin catches Hoodwell with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Hoodwell shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Gagarin as he jumps to the side.
Nice uppercut lands for Gagarin. That snapped Hoodwell's head back.
Gagarin's corner calls for a 1-2. Gagarin obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Yuri Gagarin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

A jab from Gagarin finds it's way through Hoodwell's defenses.
Hoodwell ducks right into an uppercut from Gagarin.

Hoodwell shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Gagarin's guard.

Hoodwell drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hoodwell jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Gagarin wants to stand and escape but Hoodwell is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hoodwell thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Hoodwell drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Gagarin manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hoodwell has Gagarin in his guard.

Hoodwell pushes a forearm under Gagarin's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Gagarin is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
