PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ring Dong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Quem Disse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dong's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Pantera-Walk. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ring Dong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Quem Disse!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Emerson Jorge and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Disse throws a series of punches but Dong avoids them all with ease.
Disse throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Disse swinging wilding here.
Disse will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Dong pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Dong bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Disse is pushing Dong's head away, looking to escape. Dong manages to hold on to the position though.
Disse really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dong. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Disse is trying to improve his position.

Dong is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Disse knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Disse is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Dong tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Dong has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Disse avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Dong.

Dong wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Disse, who protects the arm well.

Dong tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Dong has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Disse tries to buck Dong off but Dong is having none of it.

Disse regains half guard.
Dong missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Dong is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Disse sees it coming and defends easily.
Dong is breathing heavily.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Disse wants to control but Dong is keeping busy.

Dong is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Disse is just riding it out for now. Dong eventually gives up the hold.
Disse is looking to escape.
Disse wants to improve his position but Dong is controlling well.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Dong dodges the punch combination from Disse.
Dong showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Disse.

It looks like Ring Dong has been cut.

Dong avoids a punch combination nicely.
Quem Disse seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Disse misses with a few strikes there.
Disse throws a right and a left that both miss.
Disse throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Disse misses with a two punch combination.
Dong throws a one two combo.

Disse clinches up against the cage.

Dong jumps guard and drags Disse to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Dong manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Dong jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Disse manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Dong tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Disse is trying to get back to his feet.
Disse is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Dong's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Dong stops Disse from getting back to his feet.
Disse trying to hold on to Dong's head to control him but Dong postures up.
Disse is looking to escape.
Disse has hold of Dong's hands but Dong slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Disse is trying to stand back up but Dong is controlling him
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Disse can do anything to dispel that myth.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Dong drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ring Dong dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Ring Dong's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Disse stuffs the takedown.
Disse swinging wilding here.
Disse throws a left and a right that both miss

and Dong counters with a takedown into side control.
Disse is trying to improve his position.

Dong is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Disse has escaped the position, nice work there.
Disse manages to get back to half guard.

Dong is looking for a kimura but Disse is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Dong to get the leverage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dong is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Dong shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Dong was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
BOOM! Dong connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Disse slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Disse wants to get back to his feet.

and Dong counters with a single leg into guard. Disse didn't expect that.
Dong won't allow Disse to get back to his feet.

Dong drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Dong jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Disse bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dong's guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Dong is looking for a triangle but Disse pushes his legs off easily.

Dong had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Disse is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Dong Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Disse's back instead.
Disse holding both Dong 's hands and preventing any damage.

Dong lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Disse is trapped and Dong is scoring with shots to the head and body.

Dong is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Disse has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.
Disse trying to control but not successfully.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Disse is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Dong is staying active.

Dong has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Disse! Can he survive? No! He's out! Dong gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Ring Dong!
